Letters About Literature is a national contest,
sponsored by Target Stores Inc., the Center for the Book in the Library of
Congress, and state affiliates such as the Montana Center for the
Book. The contest is divided among elementary,
middle, and high school divisions. To enter the contest,
students write to an author, living or dead, whose book they have
found especially meaningful, and submit their letter to LAL. Both state
and national winners are announced in the spring. For details
concerning the contest, rules, guidelines, deadlines, tips, and
samples of winning letters, visit the
LAL site at the
Center for the Book
in the Library of Congress or click on
the participation guidelines link below. Questions may be
directed either to the LAL home or to the
Montana Center for the Book.
2007 postmark deadline will be announced soon.
